Brookgreen Gardens in Springtime

What better place to celebrate the start of Spring than amid a beautiful garden.  Explore the gardens of the late Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington established in 1931.  Enjoy a guided tour of the Sculpture Gardens, as well as a walk through the Low Country Zoo with a Wildlife Specialist.  Lunch is included at Pawley’s Raw Bar.

Charleston 1776

April 18, 2026 | Charleston, SC

Visit the Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon, where the Declaration of Independence was read to Charlestonians on August 5, 1776.  We continue to the home of Arthur Middleton, Middleton Place Plantation.  Middleton was a signer of the Declaration of Independence.  Have a delicious lunch, take a guided house tour and a guided tour of the gardens.

Mother’s Day at Hopsewee Plantation

May 9, 2026 | Georgetown, SC

Celebrate Mother’s Day with us at the Oak River Cottage Tea Room at Hopsewee Plantation.  The plantation, built circa 1740 and was one of the South’s major rice plantations along the Santee Delta.  In addition to rice, indigo was grown at the plantation and was one of South Carolina’s first cash crops.

Rails and Tales

June 12-14, 2026 | Staunton, VA

Come along with Capitol Tours Travel Club as we visit the beautiful town of Staunton, VA (pronounced Stanton). Experience the historic Hotel 24 South, a classic Neoclassical style hotel built in the 1920’s.  This historic hotel reopened in 2005 after a 21-million-dollar renovation.

Immediately next door to the hotel is the only re-creation of William Shakespeare’s Black Friars indoor theater, the American Shakespeare Center's Black Friar’s Playhouse.  Sit back and enjoy this unique venue as you watch the live performance of As You Like It.

Take a ride on the Virginia Scenic Railway's Allegheny Special train excursion. Depart from Staunton and travel westward as you view the beautiful farmland of the Shenandoah Valley on to the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests.

Last but not least is a visit to the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum. Step into the life of one of America's most influential presidents. Take of self-guided tour of the museum featuring exhibits such as the World War One trench exhibit and Wilson's Pierce-Arrow limousine. Enjoy a guided tour of the house where he was born.
