Come as we spend the day on the farm. Our day begins with the Aiken Equine Rescue Center where we will interact with the horses and hear from our guide what it’s like to work with these amazing animals. Our next stop is The Restaurant at Rose Hill, which was originally the stables at the Rose Hill Estate. Then we mooove on down the road to Hickory Hill Milk, a fourth-generation dairy farm. There, a guide will explain the milking processes and tell us the history of the company. Bring your cameras to take pictures of the calves. Our final stop will be Gurosik’s Berry Plantation where we have arranged for someone to tell us the ins and outs of growing strawberries before going to the fields or to the store to make purchases.

On June 6, 1944, the U.S. invaded Normandy in Operation Overlord during WWII. Later to be referred to as D-Day, this was the largest seaborne invasion in history. 156,000 young men landed on the beaches of France. Of these, 32 were the sons of families in Bedford, VA and of the 32 men that went into battle, 20 lost their life. On the 75th anniversary of this day, Bedford will commemorate the bravery of these men and remember the ones that were lost. June 6, 2019, is expected to be a milestone to represent the last large gathering of WWII veterans around the world. Join us in reflecting on this day by traveling with us to the National D-Day Memorial to witness the tributes, observe the ceremonies and honor those that served.
